You're reading: CIS military delegations to discuss Joint Air Defense System events

MOSCOW - Defense Ministry officials from CIS member states are expected to reach an agreement in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, to hold joint events as part of the Joint Air Defense System over the period up to 2013, the Russian Defense Ministry's spokesman for the Air Force Col. Vladimir Drik told Interfax-AVN on July 9.

“A session of the Air Defense Coordinating Committee of the CIS
Defense Ministers Council will take place on July 11. [Russian] Air
Force Deputy Commander for Air Defense Maj. Gen. Pavel Kurachenko will
preside over it. Reports detailing the results of the committee’s work
in the first half of 2012 and addressing joint operative and combat
training events of the Joint Air Defense System in 2012-2013 will be
presented at the session,” Drik said.

CIS Defense Ministry officials also plan to hold a working session
with representatives of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security
Treaty Organization to discuss the agenda for upcoming meetings in
2012-2013.

Defense Ministry delegations from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine
will attend the committee’s session.
