MOSCOW - International observers from the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly have said the elections to the Russian State Duma were held legally and without serious violations.
"The elections were held quite legally and democratically," CIS mission observer Rufat Guliyev told a press conference at the Vybory 2011 international information center.
Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksiy Lohvynenko said the atmosphere at polling stations that he visited was "free" and convenient both to members of elections commissions and voters.
"I can conclude on the whole that the voting procedure itself fully complied with Russian electoral law, which, in my view, has very high standards and guarantees all democratic norms," Lohvynenko said.
Bakhtiyar Kadyrov of the Kyrgyz parliament said international observers did not receive any complaints from observers representing the political parties that ran in the elections.
"We noticed a high level of preparations and organization on the part of the Russian Central Elections Commission," Kadyrov said.
