ASTANA - By 2020 the CIS countries will form a joint fund of reserves specifically allocated for emergency response operations, head of the Russian Federal Agency for State Reserve (Rosrezerv) Dmitry Gogin said.
“Throughout the year the Advisory Council has been working on the
formation of joint reserves allocated for emergency response,” Gogin
said at a session of the Advisory Council of senior officials in charge
of running the CIS material reserves in Astana on July 11.
“The formation of such reserves by 2020, reflecting the specific
conditions of each member state, is also envisaged by our cooperation
concept,” he said.
The CIS states are now trying to work out how to coordinate the
Inter-State Emergencies Council’s and the Advisory Council’s efforts to
create a fund of joint reserves allocated for emergency response, Gogin
said.
The Advisory Council of senior officials in charge of managing state material reserves in the CIS countries was set up in 2004.
Its members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are the Council observers.
