Russia's liberal opposition showed signs of life on Sept. 21 with protest marches in several cities against President Vladimir Putin’s undeclared war in Ukraine. Up to 50,000 people took part in a rally in Moscow, similar in size to a rally in mid-March shortly after Russia annexed Crimea.
