“The Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food introduces temporary restrictions on food potato imports from Ukraine to Belarus on July 10, 2014,” the document said.

“Food potatoes shipped before July 10, 2014 are subject to being imported to Belarus following quarantine and phytosanitary control,” the agriculture ministry said.

The decision was made over the address of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselkhoznadzor and in accordance with the Customs Union agreement on quarantine of plants, principles of international convention on quarantine and protection of plants.

It has been reported that Rosselkhoznadzor introduced temporary restrictions on potato imports from Ukraine to Russia on June 16. The reason for the ban is repeated cases of registering golden potato nematode, which is under quarantine in Russia.
