MOSCOW - Hungary and Slovakia could be left without gas if Russia stops shipping it through Ukraine in 2019, the Hungarian ambassador to Russia, Janos Balla said.

The issue of energy is becoming very complex, particularly if Russia might stop shipping gas through Ukraine in 2019, as this could leave some countries in Central Europe, namely Slovakia and Hungary, without gas, Balla said on June 30 at a round table on Visegrad Europe and Russia Today in Moscow.

He said that the Visegrad Four – Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland – need to work together to create projects that would help strengthen energy security.
