Moscow - French investigators have arrived in Moscow to join a Russian inquiry into the Oct. 20 crash of Total CEO Christophe de Margerie's Falcon jet at Moscow's Vnukovo airport, a source familiar with the situation told.

“In accordance with an earlier reached agreement, French investigators have come to Moscow. They will soon start to work at the Russian Investigative Committee, which is handling the criminal case opened into the Falcon plane at Vnukovo,” he said.

The source explained that it would not be a joint investigation. Rather, the French specialists will be present at all events to take place as part of this investigation, he added.

The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office said earlier that it had permitted French investigators’ participation in the Oct. 20 accident inquiry.
