Moscow – Laurent Corbaz, the ICRC's head of operations for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, has arrived in Moscow, the ICRC said.

Corbaz is to hold a series of meetings with Russian officials on Aug. 20.

Corbaz visited Kyiv for talks on Aug. 15, and then returned to Geneva and then flew to Moscow. Corbaz’s visits to Kyiv and Moscow are taking place amid continuing attempts to settle the problem of transporting humanitarian aid from Russia to south-eastern Ukraine.

The ICRC earlier expressed the hope that all problems hampering the delivery of humanitarian aid from Russia would be resolved before Corbaz’s talks with Russian officials

The security of the humanitarian convoy in Ukrainian territory remains an unsettled issue and was discussed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and ICRC President Peter Mauer. “The Russian foreign minister and the ICRC president agreed to take energetic measures in the coming hours to ensure that the Russian humanitarian cargo start moving to the point of destination as soon as possible,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
