You're reading: Japan imposes new sanctions against Russia

The Japanese government decided on Wednesday, Sept. 24 to impose additional sanctions against Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine, Japanese news agency Jiji has reported, citing a statement by Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga.

In particular, Tokyo will tighten restrictions on arms exports to Russia.

In addition, the sanctions will affect the circulation of the securities of five Russian banks, although these banks were not named by the agency.
