ASTANA - The value of Kazakhstani finished product exports stood at $22.19 billion in 2011 compared to $16.578 billion in 2010, the National Agency for Export and Investment Kaznex Invest told Interfax-Kazakhstan.

Thus the growth in finished product exports amounted to 34% last year.

According to the agency, in 2011 Kazakhstani exports of metals and metal products beyond the Customs Union increased by 47.2% to $9.332 billion, mineral products by 41.7% to $3.892 billion, chemical products by 15.7% to $2.617 billion, food products by 3.6% to $913.3 billion, machinery and equipment by 22.8% to $350.1 million, cellulose and paper products by 3.1 times to $85.8 million.

The leading role in finished product exports belongs to the Karaganda region with a volume of $5.481 million (up 27.6% against 2010), followed by the city of Almaty with $3.449 billion (up 3.3%) and the Atyrau region with $3.438 billion (up 61.5%).

Kaznex Invest was established in April 2010 based on the former Kaznex Corporation for Export Promotion.

The agency is Kazakhstan’s national body for the promotion of non-resource exports and aid to foreign investors. It is financed from the state budget and provides its services free of charge.
