You're reading: Kremlin not discussing Ukraine peacekeeping

Moscow - The possibility of sending peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to Ukraine has not been discussed, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha has said.

‘Such a decision has not been considered. Hypothetically, peacekeeping forces could be used both within the territory of the organization’s member states and outside of them in accordance with the agreements existing within the CSTO, including on the territory of the country that you have just mentioned,’ Bordyuzha said in response to a reporter’s question.

‘And when such a decision is adopted, we will determine a format for this group and its participants. It is difficult to speak about it right now,’ he said.

All member states of the CSTO have contributed their contingents to the organization’s peacekeeping forces, he said.

The agreement endorsing the establishment of a CSTO peacekeeping force was previously signed and ratified by all member countries.
