The Ukrainian side is insisting that a dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol at the highest level is important for a successful settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict, the special envoy for conflicts of the OSCE chairman in office, Andriy Deschytsia, has said.

“We believe that the issue of the Transdniestrian conflict settlement, first of all, depends on the desire, will and efforts of Chisinau and Tiraspol. The Ukrainian side is convinced that a dialogue between Moldova and Transdniestria should take place at all the levels, including the level of leaders,” the official said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

He noted that earlier the OSCE chairman-in-office, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Leonid Kozhara announced an invitation to meet to the leaders of Moldova and Transdniestria.

“Unfortunately, it was not supported by the Transdniestrian side, which considered it to be premature to conduct such a meeting. This invitation is still relevant, especially in the situation when the head of the Moldovan government has been replaced,” said the diplomat.
