MOSCOW - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed the opinion of Moscow that bombardment of Israeli southern districts and Israeli disproportionate strikes on Gaza are impermissible in a telephone conversation with Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

“The Russian principled position was confirmed [in the telephone
conversation]: bombardments of Israeli southern districts and Israeli
disproportionate strikes on Gaza, which kill innocent civilians, are
impermissible,” the ministry reported.

Lavrov told al-Maliki about Russia’s efforts aimed at the soonest end of the armed confrontation and violence in that region.

Al-Maliki informed Lavrov about the Palestinian opinion of the
regional situation and results of a special session of the LAS foreign
ministerial council held in Cairo on November 17 to discuss the crisis
in the Palestinian enclave.

The Palestinian side initiated the telephone conversation on Sunday.
