Moscow -- Moscow believes the Council of Europe could join law compliance monitoring on the entire territory of Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“In general, we presume that the Council of Europe, in line with its charter and conventions, could well join the efforts to monitor law compliance on the entire territory of Ukraine, not only in its southeast, but also in other regions, where we regularly see excesses,” Lavrov said following a meeting with Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland on Nov. 28.

Russia supports “the Council of Europe secretary general’s efforts toward easing the situation in southeastern Ukraine and his call for providing urgent humanitarian aid to the population of this territory,” Lavrov said.
