Moscow - Russia will use whatever legal possibilities it can to defend its interests as an arbitration court in The Hague is preparing to deliver verdict over the lawsuit filed by Yukos shareholders, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“I heard this morning that such a verdict is expected. Probably, we need to wait for the fact to be accomplished before making any commentary,” Lavrov told a press conference on Monday, July 28, when asked about The Hague’s arbitration court ruling which, according to several media outlets, granted the Yukos shareholders’ lawsuit claim against Russia estimated at over $50 billion.

The trial is not over yet and allows for appeals, he said.

“Russia and the government departments representing Russia at this trial will certainly use whatever legal remedies are available to defend their position,” Lavrov said.
