Moscow - The members of the Pussy Riot punk band, sentenced to two years in prison for their scandalous performance at the Christ the Savior Cathedral, will not ask for pardon from the president.

“No, they will not be asking for pardon,” one of their lawyers Nikolai Polozov told Interfax shortly after the verdict delivery on Friday.

Earlier the defense team stated its intention to file a cassation appeal against the verdict.

All three members were sentenced to two years at a medium-security prison.
