Moscow - Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov has said that leaders from most countries, including the former Soviet Union's Allies in World War II, in particular the United States, have been invited to attend festivities marking the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War in Moscow, Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov said.

“Invitations were sent according to the list from the previous Victory anniversary. Naturally, all countries that were members of the anti-Hitler coalition, it is clear which, plus our closest allies, plus our partners, the largest and most influential ones, including the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) countries,” Ushakov said at a briefing on Dec.22.

Some countries responded immediately, others are still considering the invitation, he said.

When asked by one of reporters whether U.S. President Barack Obama was among those invited, Ushakov replied: “Of course.”

“It will be a very big event and I hope there will be many foreign attendees during the festivities. No doubt, important bilateral meetings could be held,” the presidential aide said.
