Unidentified assailants threw flares at and sprayed paint on the doorstep of the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper's editorial office on Monday.

“Flares were thrown and the doorstep was smeared with paint,” the newspaper’s deputy editor-in-chief, Ayder Muzhdabayev, wrote on his Facebook page.

Muzhdabayev posted several photographs showing the stairs smeared with red and white paint, and a banner reading, “Ukrainian women are not a commodity.”

A rubber doll could be seen near the door.

The Moscow police told Interfax that they have been informed about the hooligans’ brazen conduct.

“A group of unidentified assailants wearing masks attempted to break into the building, but they were stopped by security guards and ran away. Police are investigating,” a police spokesman said.
