MOSCOW - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his Finnish counterpart Juha Sipila have discussed on the phone the implementation of joint energy projects and Russia-EU relations.

“Dmitry Medvedev has discussed on the phone with Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipila progress in the implementation of joint energy projects,” a source in the Russian government press service has told Interfax.

The telephone conversation was initiated by the Finnish side.

“The heads of government noted the traditionally neighborly nature of Russian-Finnish relations and discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda, including dynamics of reciprocal trade, progress in the implementation of joint energy projects, and activity of the Russian-Finnish intergovernmental commission,” the press service said in a report.

The conversation between the premiers “also touched upon the issue of relations between Russia and the European Union and other matters of mutual interest.”

“Personally and on behalf of the Finnish government, Sipila extended condolences to Medvedev in connection with the death of Yevgeny Primakov,” the source in the government said.
