You're reading: Minsk: European Parliament resolution on Belarus is politically motivated

The latest European Parliament resolution on Belarus is a far cry from reality; this is one of the "politically-motivated cliches", Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Savinykh told Interfax.

“The European Parliament is rubber-stamping standard politically-motivated resolutions like a high-speed printing machine. This same content, or, to be more exact, the absence of content, is obvious in the new resolution on Belarus,” he said.

“This [resolution] is a far cry from reality; it leads to an impasse, which is admitted by European deputies themselves,” Savinykh said.

The European Parliament adopted the resolution in Strasbourg on Friday to declare the observation of human rights is worsening and the inconsistency of the recent parliamentary election with international standards.
