Astana - Customs Union experts are to prepare the necessary documents to grant Ukraine observer status by the autumn, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said.

“Ukraine has expressed interest in gaining observer status in the Customs Union,” Nazarbayev said following a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on Wednesday.

Kyrgyzstan has also filed a bid to join the Customs Union, he said.

“We have supported their intention and adopted this decision. An agreement has been reached that experts will prepare the necessary documents by the fall, so that we can approve them at the next Supreme Council meeting,” Nazarbayev said.
