Russia's Rospotrebnadzor director and chief sanitary inspector Gennady Onishchenko said the first batches of Ukrainian cheese, from which the embargo has been lifted, will be shipped to Russia in the next few days.

"The process has started. Shipments are due to begin in the next few days. Everything depends on Ukraine," Onishchenko told Interfax on Tuesday.
According to earlier reports, Russia banned the import of cheese manufactured by some Ukrainian producers because their products did not meet the Russian technical regulations on milk and dairy products.

On February 27, Onishchenko said that Ukraine had more than halved its cheese supply to Russia over complaints about the quality of cheese made by the Russian sanitary services.
