Police have detained more than 40 people on Arbat street in downtown Moscow on Wednesday at an action in support of imprisoned tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the press service of the Moscow department of the Russian Interior Ministry told Interfax.

“A group of people staged an unsanctioned action near the Bulat Okudzhava monument on Arbat street on Wednesday. Police told the people that they violated the law on mass actions,” the press service said.

The group of people did not react to police’s request to stop the action. “A decision was made to detain the violators and hold them liable for the unsanctioned action. More than 40 people were detained,” the press service said.
