You're reading: Police order Yerevan protesters to unblock Bagramian Avenue within one hour

YEREVAN - The Armenian police are set to restore traffic along Bagramian Avenue in the center of Yerevan, which has been disrupted for the past two weeks, on Monday. The protesters are told to stop their action by 12.30 p.m. local time (11.30 a.m. Moscow time).

A source in the Armenian police said they intended to remove garbage bins placed by the protesters on the road.

“The police have offered participants and organizers of the illegal assembly to unblock the avenue on their own, but these appeals have been ignored. This is another and last chance offered by the police to the organizers and participants of the demonstration to volunteer the unblocking of Bagramian Avenue by 12.30 p.m. Otherwise, starting on 12.30 p.m. the police will use lawful means to clear the avenue,” he said.

The police noted they would not put a lid on the protest if it continued on the sidewalk.
