The approval and confidence rating of Prime Minister, President-elect Vladimir Putin grew after the posting of the presidential election results, sociologists told Interfax on Wednesday.

The approval rating increased from 65% to 68% since February, according to a poll done by the Yuri Levada Analytical Center on March 16-19.

The confidence rating of Putin increased from 41% to 44% in the same period.

Meanwhile, the confidence rating of President Dmitry Medvedev is 28%, and his approval rating is 61%, Levada Center said.

The other top 10 popular politicians in Russia are Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov (with a confidence rating of 14%), Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky (9%), Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu (9%), businessman Mikhail Prokhorov (8%), A Just Russia leader Sergei Mironov (8%), Patriarch Kirill (5%), Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov (4%) and Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko (4%).

Fifteen percent of the respondents told Levada Center they trusted no one.

Forty-eight percent of the respondents said in March that the government was basically efficient, and 50% disagreed.

Russians still have little faith in the ability of the government to improve the situation. The number of believers dropped from 32% to 30%. Meanwhile, those who believe in an improvement enlarged from 29% to 35%.

Thirty-seven percent are satisfied with the State Duma activity (35% a month before).

The poll was held in 45 regions of Russia.
