Chisinau (Interfax) - Nicolae Timofti will make his first official visit to Brussels if he wins the Moldovan presidential election.

"I wish to convince the Europeans that we have ambitious plans and a good administrative program, which must be implemented fully. We must walk our way to Europe consciously and to the end," he told reporters on March 15 .

"I will seek to become the president of the entire people, not just parties of the ruling coalition, which have nominated me for the chief of state. At the same time, I support the program of the Alliance for European Integration and think that Moldova must follow the European integration path. We should stick to the pro-European vector without damaging our relations with the eastern neighbors – Ukraine and Russia. Great countries are involved in big politics, and Moldova needs a smart policy being a small country," he said.

The candidate called for amending the Moldovan constitution, in particularly, the article concerning the presidential election.

"We need to attain stability, elect the president and then, in a calm atmosphere, find consensus for eliminating legal contradictions, unblocking and normalizing political processes," he said.

Moldova needs a law on opposition, "whose place is in the parliament, not in the street," Timofti said. "This idea complies with the political, administrative and judicial reforms. The judicial reform must also be brought to the end. It is the question of accountability of judges, formation of municipal authorities and upgraded work of the Supreme Council of Magistracy, including the selection of judges," said Supreme Council of Magistracy Chairman Timofti.

He is the only candidate registered for the March 16 presidential election in Moldova and has a real chance to win the election due to the support by all parties of the ruling coalition.
