Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the Buranovskiye Babushki on their successful performance at the Eurovision song contest in Baku.

"I sincerely congratulate Buranovskiye Babushki who came second at the Eurovision contest," Putin was quoted by the Kremlin press office.The president is amazed by "the talent and enthusiasm, with which Buranovskiye Babushki performed their competition program," the press office said.
Performing songs, including in Udmurt, is a wonderful popularization of our multicultural country, the president said.

Hopefully, very soon many viewers in Russia, including in Moscow, will be able to listen live performances by Buranovskiye Babushki, Putin said.

"During his trip to Udmurtia in the very near future Putin intends to personally meet the grannies, visit their village, see how its occupants live, and find out whether the television situation is really that bad there, since it was reported that there is only one television set in this village: at the rural council," the press office said.
