You're reading: Putin likely to be sole leader of United Russia party list

Moscow - United Russia's leader Vladimir Putin is likely to lead the party list at the parliamentary elections on December 4, a senior party official told Interfax on Friday.

The ruling party is opening its congress at the Gostiny Dvor in central Moscow on Friday. The delegates are expected to vote on the United Russia party list on Saturday, the second day of the congress.

Putin is expected be the only name in the federal part of the party list, the same as during the previous elections, a party source.

This contradicts the earlier reports that the party list might be led by President Dmitry Medvedev.

There were also speculations that the party list’s federal top ten will include, apart from Putin, the independents who won the primaries conducted by United Russia and the All-Russian People’s Front this summer.
