You're reading: Putin, Nazarbayev discuss Ukraine on phone

Moscow -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev have discussed the situation in Ukraine in a telephone conversation. 

“Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev at Kazakhstan’s initiative. They continued exchanging opinions on the situation in Ukraine and stressed the importance of ensuring the ceasefire in the southeastern part of the country,” the Kremlin press service reported on Friday.

Putin and Nazarbayev “reaffirmed their mutual determination to promote the stabilization of the situation in this region in close coordination with other foreign partners,” it said.

In the context of a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council scheduled for December, the Russian and Kazakh leaders exchanged opinions on relevant aspects of Eurasian integration, it said.
