Russia has offered Peru its Mil Mi-171Sh helicopters and armored military hardware, Alexander Fomin, director of the Russian Federal Service for Military Technological Cooperation, said.
“We have submitted a concrete proposal to our Peruvian colleagues concerning Mi-171Sh helicopters. I cannot tell you right now how many helicopters may be sold, but believe me it will be quite a large number,” he told reporters on Thursday, commenting on the results of a Russian military delegation’s visit to Brazil and Peru.
Russia’s offer to Peru centers on helicopters, Fomin said, adding that he was speaking about certain technical and commercial offers that “are currently being examined by the Peruvian side.”
Apart from that, Russian specialists conducted a successful presentation of Russian armored military hardware in Peru, to be followed by a similar presentation on Russian territory shortly, he said.
“But Mi-171Sh helicopters still remain the priority of our project, including as part of Peru’s plans to enhance the mobility of its Land Forces,” he said.
Russia also hopes to carry out the maintenance and modernization of another batch of MiG-29 airplanes in Peru, Fomin said.
“A proposal concerning [Sukhoi] Su-25 airplanes’ maintenance has been forwarded to the Peruvian side as well,” he added.
