SEOUL - Russia has reaffirmed at the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit that it does not have any nuclear materials or equipment the physical protection of which is a matter of concern.

"We confirm that physical nuclear security remains at a proper level in Russia, and the physical protection of all nuclear materials and appropriate equipment present on its territory is reliable," Russia said in a memorandum issued at the summit.

"There are not any nuclear materials or equipment on its [Russian] territory the physical protection level of which is a matter of concern," it said.

Following the Fukushima disaster, Russia conducted stress tests at all of its nuclear power plants, as well as an inspection together with its partners from the World Association of Nuclear Operators in 2011, the memorandum said.

The inspection involved experts from France, the United States, Belgium, Hungary, Ukraine and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"The Russian Federation is certain about the need to further bolster international legal norms on nuclear security," it said.

Russia forwarded draft amendments to the Nuclear Security Convention and the Convention on the Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident to the IAEA last June, the document said.
