You're reading: Russia says PACE removes itself from real assistance to Ukraine peace process

Moscow – Federation Council International Affairs Committee Chairman Konstantin Kosachyov has called regrettable the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to deprive the Russian delegation of voting rights and presumed that it was made by the "commonplace" majority of the Assembly.

“This is a highly unfortunate decision not so much for Russia as for the PACE, which has once again removed itself from real assistance to the peace process in Ukraine and the protection of its residents,” Kosachyov told Interfax.

In his opinion, the PACE has acted as a community whose position is determined by a featureless majority rather than politicians having a real knowledge of this situation who have been lately working on the Russian dossier.

“Those politicians were listening to Russia’s arguments but the “commonplace” majority of the Assembly was not,” Kosachyov observed.
