MOSCOW - Russia's veterinary and phytosanitary oversight body Rosselkhoznadzor plans to ban imports of dairy products from several German enterprises, particularly those located in Bavaria.

Recent inspections that Russian veterinary specialists carried out at several German dairy enterprises that deliver their product to Russia indicated that many of them do not comply with the regulatory requirements for milk and dairy products, Rosselkhoznadzor chief Sergei Dankvert told Interfax.

“Almost 90% of these enterprises are included in a list of suppliers under German veterinary service guarantee,” he said. “Their failure to comply with Russian requirements leads to us being forced to impose restrictions on imports of products from several of them, especially those located in Bavaria,” Dankvert said.

He stressed that “these violations are systematic, and the federal veterinary service is not undertaking efforts to terminate them.”

In particular, these breaches involve the dates of milk supplies envisaged in Russian regulations, as well as a lack of research of the Customs Union’s norms, Dankvert said.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor data, there are 103 German enterprises in the list of dairy product suppliers to Russia, 21 of which have already been slapped with bans.
