You're reading: Russia to propose G20 to establish coordinating energy body – Putin

Russia will propose that its G20 partners establish a coordinating energy body, Russian President Vladimir Putin said when speaking at the round table Summit of Energy Companies within the St. Petersburg economic forum.

“The issue of energy coordination, one could say, is in the air,
however as of now, there is not a single established idea on creating a
coordinating body. So I think that this work should already begin,”
Putin said.

“It could be possible to create a council or a forum, let’s say,
which would unite working groups or sections by interest: for instance,
customers, producers, infrastructure operators, regulators and etc.,”
the Russian president said.

Such a forum or council could have carried out coordinating tasks, Putin said.

“We will propose the G20 partners to think about it,” Putin said.
