MOSCOW - Russian representatives will participate in the work of the OSCE election monitoring mission in Ukraine.

“Russian observers will participate in the broad mission organized by the OSCE through its institution Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told a briefing in Moscow.

At the meeting of the UN Security Council on Oct. 24, Russia will point out the pressure exerted in Ukraine on various opposition candidates for the parliament to the international community.

“In the upcoming elections, we intend to again call on our international partners to take an unpoliticized stance in their evaluations of the situation in Ukraine. We will point out the rampant ultra-nationalist tendencies and the crackdown on opposition parties and politicians, who are frequently getting threats of physical violence in the parliamentary election campaign,” Lukashevich said.

“All these things in no way agree with Kyiv’s statements of its allegiance to European democratic values,” he said.
