Moscow - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Martynov met in Moscow on Monday to discuss the agenda of the OSCE foreign ministerial conference due in Vilnius in early December.

"Much attention was given to our interaction at international organizations, including the UN and the OSCE, particularly in light of the OSCE foreign ministerial conference due in Vilnius in early December, and the items on its agenda. Russia, Belarus and some other CSTO and CIS member states have joint initiatives, which are being negotiated," Lavrov told reporters after the meeting.

The initiatives concern the adoption of the OSCE Charter and international coordination of rules to regulate the use of OSCE mechanisms, he said.

"We also propose that all OSCE member states must fulfill the commitments they assumed in the 1990s and ensure the free travel in our common region. The commitments are not being fulfilled so far," Lavrov said.

Lavrov and Martynov also discussed relations of their countries with NATO and the European Union, in particular, in the context of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, the Common Economic Space and the future Eurasian Economic Union.

A joint action plan was approved at the meeting, Lavrov said.
