Krasnoarmeisk - France has not formally notified Russia about the tearing up of the Mistral class helicopter carrier contract, said Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov.

‘Speaking of the concrete work, if they (the French) had wanted to tear up the contract, the relations, they would have notified [us] about the reasons and so on. We have not received anything like that yet,’ he told reporters on Wednesday.

Work under the contract is slightly behind the initial schedule, but still in accordance with the program that envisages Mistral handover, he said. Speaking about the possibility of ordering a third and fourth helicopter carrier from France, the deputy defense minister said he had nothing concrete to say on the matter.
