MOSCOW - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin has spoken to Transdniestrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk by telephone to discuss, in particular, preparations for the upcoming five plus two meeting, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website on Friday, Feb. 3

"Also they discussed preparations for another meeting in the five plus two format. Russia provided explanations concerning several international aspects of the Transdniestrian resolution," the statement said.

The parties also discussed the situation in the region, the ministry said.
