MOSCOW - Vyacheslav Koloskov, former president of the Russian Football Union (RFS) and currently its honorary president, is not inclined to over-dramatize the European football governing body UEFA's decision not to recognize football matches played by Crimean clubs, organized under the RFS's auspices.

“The UEFA letter doesn’t say anything about sanctions. It says that they don’t recognize the results. But what do we care? This is their problem,” Koloskov said.

“What matters is that the RFS should officially recognize the games of these teams. It’s another thing that, if a Crimean club wins the Russia Cup, it won’t be admitted to the [UEFA] Europa League. But I think it’s a long way off yet,” he said.

“We just need to take note of this letter and continue holding competitions with these clubs taking part. Everything is easy,” Koloskov said.

UEFA announced earlier on Friday that it would not recognize any matches played by Crimean clubs in tournaments organized by the RFS.
