Moscow - Ten officers from law enforcement agencies have been killed during an operation to neutralize militants in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya in Russia's North Caucasus, a source in North Caucasus security services told Interfax by phone.

“The information available at the moment indicates that ten of our officers were killed and up to 20 were injured,” he said.

The commander of Chechnya’s special operations units is among those injured, the source said.

Interfax has so far been unable to obtain official confirmation of the report.
