ASHGABAT - Turkmenistan boosted gas exports by 19.4% year-on-year in the first half of 2012, Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister Baymyrat Hojamuhammedow, who oversees the oil and gas sector, said at an expanded meeting of the Turkmen government on Saturday, July 8.
Oil and gas condensate production grew 7% in January-June of this
year, while natural and associated gas output was up 13.8%. In the
petroleum products sphere, automobile gasoline output rose 7.9%, diesel
fuel production increased 3%, polypropylene – 2.5% and liquefied gas –
27.4%.
Participants in the meeting discussed the progress made in
implementing a development program for Turkmenistan’s oil and gas
industry for the period until 2030.
Hojamuhammedow noted that under the development program for the oil
and gas complex for 2012-2016, 55.9 million tonnes of oil were produced
and 448.7 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas were produced.
Having approved the development program in an order published in
local papers on Saturday, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow
said that there are plans in the near future to launch the giant gas
field Galkynysh (formerly Iolotan) into commercial operation, to finish
building the Vostok-Zapad (East-West) gas pipeline, and to finish
constructing new oil and gas refineries and chemical production
facilities.
