BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (AP) — A native of Uzbekistan indicted in Alabama on federal charges of threatening to kill President Barack Obama and illegally possessing an M15 machine gun plans to plead guilty.
The Birmingham News reports a federal judge on Wednesday issued an order setting a Feb. 10 hearing for Ulugbek Kodirov to change his plea to guilty.
Kodirov was arrested at a Leeds motel July 13 and initially pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
His lawyer, Lance Bell, confirmed to the newspaper that Kodirov plans to plead guilty but declined further comment.
Kodirov is charged with threatening the president and with being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and unlawfully possessing a fully automatic weapon.
