Moscow - The prospect of introducing visa-free travel between Russia and all European Union countries by the end of 2014 appears to be quite realistic, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Ambassador at Large Anvar Azimov said.

“It will hardly be possible to introduce visa-free travel by the Olympic Games [in Sochi], although it would be a good occasion. But we are able to do so by the end of 2014,” he said at a press briefing in Moscow on Tuesday.

The EU representatives have already called for not setting any artificial timeframes to introduce the visa-free travel, the diplomat said. “We, on the contrary, think that it’s necessary to have some time guides. If not Sochi, then give us a year when we could start, because we have to see the main target,” Azimov said.
