Moscow -- Vnesheconombank (VEB) has appealed to the Court of the European Union on Friday requesting that the EU Council's sanctions against the Russian bank be lifted.

The appeal was submitted in accordance with the court’s rules and procedures, the bank said. VEB did not release further details on the case, however.

Sberbank and VTB have announced similar cases. All banks fell under the EU’s sectoral sanctions.
