You're reading: Blokhin signs 4-year contract with Dynamo Kyiv

Chief coach of Ukraine's national football team Oleh Blokhin has been appointed the head coach of FC Dynamo Kyiv, the contract runs for four years. 

“Oleh Volodymyrovych [Blokhin] said the leadership of the Football Federation of Ukraine understand his intentions to lead his home team. According to their agreements, Oleh Blokhin will prepare the national team for the next two matches (against Moldova on October 12 and against Montenegro on October 16). After that the coach will be able to focus on the work with the club,” the press service of FC Dynamo reported on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, September 26, Blokhin will be introduced to the footballers of Dynamo Kyiv.

As reported, FC Dynamo Kyiv announced on September 24 that it had terminated its contract with head coach Yuriy Siomin, who in December 2010 signed a contract with the club for three-and-a-half years.

Russian coach Siomin had already worked with Dynamo from December 2007 to May 2009, when he left the club to coach Lokomotiv Moscow. Under Siomin’s guidance, Dynamo was champion of Ukraine and reached semi-finals of the UEFA Cup.

Blokhin has headed Ukraine’s national team since April 21, 2011. He previously worked with the national team September 2003 to December 2007. Under his leadership, the team reached the quarterfinals of the 2006 World Cup and took part in the Euro 2012 finals co-hosted by Ukraine.
