The management of FC Arsenal Kyiv and its president, Vadym Rabynovych, are doing everything possible to save the club, but there still remains a threat to its existence, the club's coach, Yuriy Bakalov, has said.
“I will say that the club’s president is really doing everything
possible and even impossible to save the club. And such a possibility
does exist. A portion of the path has already been walked, but now
everything remains in the hands of players,” he said in an interview
with the club’s official Web site on Friday.
He said that most players were sympathetic with regard to the situation at the club.
“Unfortunately, there remained a few players with significant
salaries, who were still unable to make a decision, as they see their
financial situation as a priority. Objectively, the process has hung
because of this… But we need to understand that the club is not only
the salaries of players, let’s say, EUR 40,000 per month. These are also
young and promising guys, the U-19 team and the children’s team, which
is one of the leading children’s football sports schools in our system,”
Bakalov said.
As reported, on January 8, Arsenal Kyiv President Vadym Rabynovych
said that the club could cease to exist on January 20. On January 1, a
contract was terminated by mutual agreement with Arsenal Kyiv coach
Leonid Kuchuk, who took charge of Kuban Krasnodar on January 9.
Ukrainian media reported that the players had not received their salaries for three months.
On January 10, the club’s press service reported that the club’s
management and players were united in their desire to save the club.
After that, several leading players left the team.
