Moscow, July 18 (Interfax) - English football club Chelsea (London) has announced that Russian gas giant Gazprom has become the official global energy partner for the club.

According to the three-year sponsorship deal, Gazprom will provide the club with gas and electricity, as well as participate in the club’s work in the framework of socially responsible business.

Chelsea FC CEO Ron Gourlay was quoted on the club’s official website as saying: “This is another very exciting global partnership for the club, and demonstrates the ever-growing appeal of Chelsea FC. As a global supplier of energy with a commitment to the environment and social responsibility, Gazprom is a perfect match for the club. Our huge fan base around the world will help Gazprom reach their key markets in Europe and Asia, while we will benefit from their support in developing further our wide-ranging CSR programs.”

It was earlier reported that Audi, Zauber and Delta Airlines have also become sponsors of Chelsea.

Chelsea came sixth in the British Premier League in the 2011/2012 season.

Gazprom also signed an agreement last week with UEFA and became an official partner for the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup for the next three seasons.
