Sochi, Russia, September 14 (Interfax) - Gazprom will be an official sponsor for FIFA's 2018 World Cup under an agreement signed on Saturday. 

The partnership accord, to be in effect from 2015 to 2018, was signed in
Sochi in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin by FIFA President Sepp
Blatter and Gazprom chief executive Alexei Miller, an Interfax correspondent
reported from Sochi.

On December 2, 2010, FIFA (the International Federation of Association
Football) chose Russia as the host of the 2018 World Cup. The championships will
be held in 11 Russian cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Gazprom sponsors soccer clubs Zenit in Russia, Schalke 04 in Germany and
Crvena Zvezda in Serbia, and is an official partner of UEFA for its Champions
League’s 2012-2015 seasons and UEFA’s Super Cup contests in 2012-2014.
