The local organizing committee for the preparation of Ukraine to host the EuroBasket 2015 European Basketball Championship will be led by UEFA Euro 2012 Tournament Director in Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky.

“I am finishing work at the office of the UEFA Euro 2012. The local organizing committee finishes its activities today. I am very grateful to the Basketball Federation of Ukraine for their offer to lead the preparation of a basketball tournament in terms of its organization and the projects close to those that we prepared for Euro 2012… I think the local organizing committee of EuroBasket 2015 will begin its work in February 2013,” he told the Basketball Federation’s press service on Monday.

On November 18, Lubkivsky visited the group stage draw for EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia. “We will be able to organize the draw and EuroBasket 2015 on such a high level as the Euro 2012 European Football Championship was held. We have profound knowledge, so it won’t be a problem to organize EuroBasket 2015. However, we should start preparing already, because it is a complex project that requires significant effort,” he said.

As reported, on December 18, 2011 Ukraine received the right to host the European Basketball Championship in 2015. Ukraine offered to host the championship in its largest cities, including Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lviv, Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk.
