The Ice Palace (a building for hockey and figure skating) in Sevastopol will be built by the end of October, Ukrainian MP Vadym Kolesnichenko has told journalists.

“At the end of October the facility will be put into operation. This is a program entitled “Hockey of Ukraine”. The state allocated Hr 38.5 million for the building of the palace, while the city allocated Hr 3.5 million to prepare utility systems. [The stadium] will be able to sit about 2,500 people,” he said.

According to him, landscaping work will include an area for street hockey near the palace.

“Today street hockey is recognized in Europe, European competitions are held and we have 300 people that can coach it,” Kolesnichenko added.

According to him, “after being put into service, the Ice Palace will serve Sevastopol.”

“Now we’re looking for the sponsors to create a highly-professional hockey team to participate in the top league of Ukraine. We have registered our Sevastopol team for national competitions,” the MP said.

As earlier reported, construction work on the palace started in May 2012. It is planned that the Ice Palace will form a sport complex together with a reconstructed football stadium with an athletics track.
